The winemaker

The story of Mähler-Besse began in 1892, when Fréderik Mähler, then aged 20, decided to leave the Netherlands and set up in Bordeaux, trading in fine wines and spirits. In 1905, he married Marguerite Besse and gave his company an international dimension, opening up to Northern Europe, the Dutch West Indies, Russia and Canada. In 1928, his son Henry joined him.
