Château d'yquem 2014Considered the world's greatest white wine, Château d'yquem, situated on a small hill, benefits from an exceptional micro-climate and terroir. The vineyard, which comprises no fewer than 150 plots with different soil types, is pampered throughout the year: each vine receives an average of 50 treatments a year. Selection is particularly rigorous: it is often said that a vine only produces one glass of wine. Harvesting is carried out in a minimum of four passes (seven in 1997!) in order to collect perfectly ripe grapes affected by noble rot. The estate also produces a dry white wine, y d'yquem, from grapes not affected by botrytis cinerea. This marvelous wine boasts aromas of peach, pineapple, coconut, nutmeg and cinnamon, supported by nuances of toast, caramel and vanilla from the new oak. With their extraordinary richness and concentration, Yquem wines have extraordinary ageing potential. Guitry used to say that after Mozart, the silence that followed was still Mozart. After a gorgée d'yquem, the moments that follow are always d'yquem."
Appearance
The robe can vary over the entire range of colors from pale gold to coppery gold through straw yellow.
Aroma
In the main aromatic field of soft and sweet Bordeaux we find the flower, the fresh fruits, the exotic fruits but also spicy notes and empireumatiques (wood, cinnamon, vanilla ...).
Wine Floral | Soft | Spicy
Taste
The sweet white young are delicious, they are slightly jammy but still retain acidity. With age they evolve on more concentrated aromas, such as the bitter orange confit and small notes of salted butter caramel.
