The winemaker

Four generations of the Greuzard family have succeeded each other at the head of Château de la Greffière since 1924. However, the viticultural history of the estate is much older and dates back to 1585. The property offers a full range of expressive and aromatic wines, with five white cuvées in the Saint-Véran, Mâcon and Bourgogne Aligoté appellation d'origine contrôlée, three red cuvées, a crémant and a rosé.

The estate

The Château de la Greffière is located in Burgundy in a commune of the Mâconnais, La Roche Vineuse and its 48 hectare vineyard extends over several communes. The grape variety is typically Burgundian with Pinot Noir and Gamay for the red wines, and for the whites, Chardonnay and Aligoté. The vineyard extends into prestigious appellations such as Saint-Véran, Bourgogne or Saint-Amour.

The family relies as much on the traditional know-how passed down through each generation as on recent technical developments to offer elegant vintages expressing all the typicity of this exceptional terroir.

The wines

The Château de la Greffière Mâcon La Roche Vineuse is a white with a straw yellow color. The nose offers an aromatic bouquet with notes of grapefruit and tangerine. The palate is mineral with aromas of quince. It is an easy wine to pair, it can be enjoyed as an aperitif, with poultry, fish, risotto or a cheese platter.

The Château de la Greffière Mâcon Serrières, La Croix vintage 2017 is a 100% Gamay cuvée with a dark red color. It is a balanced, light wine with aromas of red fruits, chocolate and roasted notes, which pairs well with braised or roasted meat.

Chateau de la Greffière Saint-Véran vintage 2019 is a white wine with a crystal clear yellow color. The nose is fruity and floral with aromas of pear, peach and notes of fern, honeysuckle and acacia. It is a mineral wine with a round mouth and a nice structure. It will be perfect with seafood or baked fish, but also with a cheese platter or a poultry blanquette.

The Château de la Greffière - Bourgogne Aligoté vintage 2020 is a supple and generous wine with floral and fruity aromas. The palate is initially fresh, it then offers more mineral notes and citrus nuances that are a perfect match for shellfish, raw fish or poultry.
