The winemaker

The story of an instigating family

The history of the estate is none other than that of the perseverance of Charles Joblot. Founder of the property, he actually metamorphosed a simple production of red fruits into a wine estate. He is at the origin of these wines which, thanks to his determination, have not ceased to gain in quality, then in notoriety. It was his work for the creation of the Givry appellation, recognized in 1946, that helped prove the value of the land in which he invested so much to create wines still unknown to the general public. His descendants have perpetuated his work over the generations through his son, Marc and then his grandsons, Vincent and Jean-Marc, and the latter's daughter, Juliette. The first one gave his freedom to the domain by emancipating himself from the trading systems of the time to market his vintages independently. A true avant-gardist, he built the reputation of the estate on his innovations, particularly in terms of planting. The following generations have worked to give a recognizable style to the wines of the house. Through their rigor and dedication, they have produced wines of great purity that are the envy of many estates.

The philosophy of respect for the land

The Domaine Joblot vineyard is run according to the principles of reasoned viticulture. The house's low-intervention method allows the grapes to ripen naturally thanks to the gentle Burgundy sun and the nutrients naturally present in the soil. Great attention is paid to the vines throughout the growing season and at all pivotal moments to ensure the purity of the fruit. Harvesting is done when the berries reach optimal maturity to ensure a high concentration of flavors in the grapes. The winemaking process is then carried out in a simple manner with meticulous supervision but a minimal level of intervention. This avoids any alteration during the process that could denature the fruit's aromas. The wine is then aged in casks to bring subtle wood notes but without ever compromising the purity of the wine.

Unique clos for exceptional wines

Spread over 14 hectares of clos delimited in the Burgundian style, the vineyard of Domaine Joblot has in its hands the ability to create unique wines, witnesses of the diversity of the terroirs of Burgundy. The white wines of the house are surprisingly deep because they are made from old vines, while the red wines are surprisingly smooth with velvety tannins and floral and black fruit aromas. The aromatic power and the structure of the house wines guarantee an important ageing potential which allows amateurs to rediscover their favorite vintages over the years.
