The winemaker

Terroirs

The estate covers 17 hectares spread over several villages: Puligny Montrachet, Saint Aubin, Bouzeron, Pernand-Vergelesses and of course Chassagne Montrachet.

Domaine Ramonet owns parcels in several premier cru appellations (Morgeots, Ruchottes, le Clos de la Boudriotte, Chaumées, le Clos Saint Jean and Vergers), as well as several Montrachet Grand Cru appellations (Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru, Bienvenues Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru, Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru).

The producer

Managed since 1984 by Noël and Jean-Claude Ramonet, who share production and trading activities, the Ramonet estate was created by their grandfather Pierre Ramonet in the 1920s. He quickly made a name for his wines, selling them on the finest tables in the USA and in Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe before the Second World War.

The current owners have helped improve yields on the estate's exceptional terroirs and continue the work of excellence begun by their forebears, further enhancing the elegance, finesse and quality of Domaine Ramonet cuvées. Two-thirds of the domaine's production is white wine, the rest red.

Old winemaking know-how

The vines are cultivated according to sustainable viticulture practices, respecting the terroirs and soils. The producer has chosen to limit yields to obtain wines of the highest quality.

The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand, the wine is made using traditional methods and aged in oak barrels. Each step is carried out with respect for tradition and ancient know-how.

The wines

Known for their typical Burgundy flavors, Domaine Ramonet cuvées produce powerful wines with an intense aromatic bouquet. The estate produces over 20 cuvées of white wine, including a dozen Premier Cru, and six cuvées of red wine.

The cuvée Bienvenues Bâtard Montrachet Ramonet 1992 is one of the estate's greatest successes. It's a complex, elegant and powerful wine with intense fruity aromas.

Le Montrachet Grand Cru Ramonet is the estate's flagship cuvée. It's a wine that combines power and finesse, with a long finish and rich aromas of honey and hazelnut. It has great ageing potential and needs to be enjoyed at full maturity to reveal its full complexity and richness.
