The winemaker

Sylvain Pataille produces 2/3 red wines, from pinot noir, and 1/3 white wines, divided between aligoté and chardonnay, the great Burgundy grape varieties. The vines are an average of forty years old, Sylvain Pataille plows them by horse and produces wines that are partly whole-harvested, with long maturation periods. His Bourgogne aligoté "Clos du Roy" is juicy and salivating in a way that is rare for such a wine. The red Marsannay l'Ancestrale is a long-ageing Pinot Noir with aromas of blackcurrant and zan.
