The winemaker

The history of the Baudry Champagne House

The Champagne Baudry house is currently run by harvesting owners Armel and José Baudry. They represent the 11th generation of winemakers at the Baudry house, which was founded in 1660 in the Côte des Bar.

Their work has allowed them to hold a record for their Champagne Brut Privilège, which holds an impressive 15 medals over the past 10 years.

The Champagne Baudry vineyard

The Champagne Baudry vineyard covers 20 hectares. The estate is conducted with the greatest respect for the environment. For more than 30 years, the manures have come from composting manure and wood bark. This allows the use of raw materials produced within a local radius not exceeding 25 kilometers.

The vineyard is no longer treated with chemical herbicides and has been plowed mechanically for 10 years. The two winemaker brothers use natural elements, such as sulfur or copper, to fight against vine diseases: mildew and powdery mildew. Green leaf removal has allowed them to eliminate all inputs.

Finally, sorting and recycling allow the Baudry Champagne House to produce only an extremely small amount of waste. The vineyard of Champagne Baudry is composed of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay.

The wines of the Champagne Baudry house

Cuvée Privilège Brut

The Cuvée Privilège Brut is the spearhead of the Champagne Baudry house. Made from a blend of 80% Pinot Noir, complemented by 20% Chardonnay, it is a wine of great complexity. The champagne benefits from the power of the Pinot Noir.
It is kept for three years in the cellars and its disgorgement is carried out several months before distribution, which guarantees a perfect stability and a constant high quality. The Privilège brut has a warmly colored robe. It displays a nose full of finesse, filled with aromas of white flowers and yellow fruits. It provides a delicately airy sensation.

The mouth is lively from the outset and always remains frank. It then reveals a fleshy sweetness, while remaining energetic. The finish lingers on notes of licorice and anise. The Cuvée Privilège Brut from the Champagne Baudry house is available in 75 cl bottles, as well as in 150 cl magnums.

The Cuvée Rosé Brut

The Cuvée Rosé Brut of the Champagne Baudry house is composed exclusively of Pinot Noir. A proportion of red wine is added to the white wine, before the frothing process, to produce its magnificent brilliant salmon color.
The nose of the Cuvée Rosé Brut gives off notes of red fruits, where strawberry and blackcurrant dominate. The mouth offers a very fresh attack which evolves in warm roundness. The aromas of strawberry and blackcurrant remain, enriched by bright notes of raspberry.
