The winemaker

History

It was in 1837 that Henri-Marc de Venoge founded De Venoge et Cie, with his son Joseph. He produced the first cuvées of Maison Venoge and also designed the first illustrated label in the history of Champagne.

In 1866, Joseph's son Gaëtan de Venoge began exporting to the United States. In 1876, he won the House's first major distinction, the "Grand Prix d'Excellence" at the Philadelphia World's Fair.

From 1898, Gaëtan's daughter and her husband introduced the Maison Venoge to the great European aristocracy and developed its prestige. Since 1998, Les Champagne de Venoge has been part of the Boizel Chanoine Champagne group. Maison de Venoge boasts one of the richest wine libraries in Champagne, with cuvées aged 20 years or more, aimed at the most discerning connoisseurs.

Venoge champagnes

The Cordon Bleu cuvée

It's blended with a dominant Pinot Noir. It's a fresh champagne with fine aromas. The cuvée is available in several champagnes: Cordon Bleu Brut, Cordon Bleu extra brut, Cordon Bleu brut rosé and Cordon Bleu Blanc de Noir. The Blanc de Noir is the first champagne made exclusively from black grapes. With its original aromas of lemon, blackcurrant and aniseed, it's a powerful, full-bodied wine.

The Princes cuvée

It is produced from a rigorous selection of grapes from the finest crus. It was created by Joseph de Venoge in 1864. Its elegant bottle recalls the crystal decanters used by European aristocrats in the early 20th century to decant champagne. Four Princes cuvées are produced: "Princes blanc de noirs" (pinot noir), "princes extra brut", "princes rosé" and "Princes blanc de blancs". This cuvée is a blend of Chardonnay grapes only.

Louis XV cuvées

These are Prestige cuvées. The cuvée was named in honor of King Louis XV, who in 1728 authorized the transport of only bottled Champagne wines. This decision gave birth to Champagne as we know it, thanks to the fact that the wine was able to bubble in the bottle. All the savoir-faire of the Maison de Venoge can be found in this exceptional Champagne, produced from Grands Crus only. This wine is available in two vintages: Louis XV rosé and Louis XV brut.
