Duval-Leroy is a champagne house established in Vertus, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, since 1859, i.e. six generations. Vertus is in fact an old commune, which became the commune of Blancs Coteaux by merging with Gionges, Oger and Voipreux in 2018. The agglomeration is located in the Marne department and the Grand Est region. Find out more

The winemaker

The history of Champagne Duval-Leroy

In 1859, Armand Edouard Leroy decided to produce and market champagne and joined forces with a local winemaker, Jules Duval. Henri, Jules Duval's son, married Louise Eugénie Leroy, Edouard's daughter, and the Duval-Leroy Champagne House was born. The first heir of this great family was Raymond who was born in 1886.

In order to conquer Europe, but also the United States, the Duval-Leroy Champagne House decided to participate in all the World Fairs of the time and the strategy worked wonderfully. As early as 1888, Champagne Duval-Leroy won the medal of honour at the international wine competition in Barcelona.

In 1911, Raymond created a "fleur de champagne premier cru" cuvée, made exclusively from grands crus and premiers crus. He then intended to take advantage of the craze caused by the creation in 1911 of the champagne crus scale.

Each of the world wars destroyed the vineyard and each time the family replanted the vineyard. In 1950, Charles Roger Duval-Leroy took up the torch and undertook the difficult task of reconstituting the vineyard, particularly on the Montagne de Reims.

The Duval-Leroy Champagne vineyard

The Champagne Duval-Leroy house cultivates 200 hectares. The land is located on parcels classified as "grand cru" or "premier cru". Since the 1990s, sustainable development has been part of Champagne Duval-Leroy's growing strategy. The first organic cuvée was born, thanks to the organic management of the vineyard, but also to ecological vinification methods.

The Champagne Duval-Leroy cuvées

Champagne Duval-Leroy Cuvée Brut Réserve

Composed of Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay, Champagne Duval-Leroy Cuvée Brut Réserve is a wine perfectly balanced between finesse and power. It offers original aromas of cinnamon, dark chocolate and roasted figs. Its vinosity is subtly expressed in the mouth.
The Cuvée Brut Réserve is a delightful accompaniment to your white meats.

Champagne Duval-Leroy Cuvée Fleur de Champagne Premier Cru

Champagne Duval-Leroy Cuvée Fleur de Champagne Premier Cru combines Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes selected from the only villages classified as Grand Cru and Premier Cru in the Grande Vallée de la Marne, the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs.

The wine is bold, exuding the evocative scent of vine flowers, with perfect balance and a racy character. There are subtle mineral touches, along with a lingering freshness.
The Cuvée Fleur de Champagne Premier Cru pairs wonderfully with roasted langoustines.

Champagne Duval-Leroy Femme de Champagne Rosé

The Champagne Duval-Leroy Femme de Champagne Rosé is made from the single grape variety Pinot Noir. Its colour is luminous, with hints of pinkish gold. This complex wine is nicely structured and distinguished by its delicious perfume of wild red fruits.
It is ideal for your aperitifs and for fruity desserts, such as raspberry.
