Maintained by the great Guillaume D'angerville and his steward François Duvivier, the Domaine du Pélican (Jura) is proof that the Jura terroir has great potential. The winemaker

The producer

Located in the heart of Montigny-les-Arsures, in the Jura region, Domaine du Pélican is a young vineyard, replanted in 2001 and now owned by Guillaume d'Angerville and François Duvivier. Guillaume d'Angerville, nationally renowned for producing the very best of Volnay in his Côte de Beaune region, fell in love with this very special plot in the Jura.

Guillaume d'Angerville's love story is quite amusing: during a blind tasting in Paris, he thought he recognized a Burgundy until the sommelier told him the wine's Jura origin. It was then that he realized the potential of this little-known region and decided to acquire plots there.

After taking over the legendary old vines of Jacques Puffeney, a historic figure in Arbois viticulture, our duo began producing their first wines, which show great technical mastery and radiant expression, a humble tribute to the region's great classics.

Commitments

A lover of wine as much as of life, Guillaume d'Angerville is not at his first winery with Domaine du Pélican. Indeed, he is one of the pillars of the family domaine Marquis d'Angerville in Volnay in the Côtes de Beaune.

Domaine du Pélican also stands out for its symbiosis of technology and the power of nature. Indeed, when it was acquired in 2001, the estate benefited from state-of-the-art equipment (all wine movements by gravity, pneumatic press, two vibrating sorting tables, ultra-modern destemmer...). But above all, the terroir of this exceptional estate, abandoned by its former owner, is revealed to be in a particularly wild and natural (and therefore organic) state.

This legacy allows d'Angerville and Duvivier to apply a biodynamic philosophy (as at Domaine Marquis d'Angerville) to present wines that perfectly embody their terroir. Since 2006, this philosophy has been strictly adhered to according to the lunar calendar of biodynamic principles.

Terroir

Located in an exceptional Jura territory, Domaine du Pélican covers 15 hectares, including 11 of white and 4 of red. Pinot noir (45% of reds) and Savagnin (60% of whites) are the dominant grape varieties.

Wines

The Domaine du Pélican Arbois Savagnin features the king of Jura grapes (Savagnin), the most typical of the region. This grape produces a powerful, complex wine. Notes of apricot are fragrant, but also sensual, offering an alert body whose tannins are developed by the wine's acidic touch.

The Domaine du Pélican Arbois Chardonnay stands out for its fruity nose and tannins that soar with the juice's underlying acidity.
