The winemaker

The history of Domaine Peyre Rose

The story of Domaine Peyre Rose is that of Marlène Soria, who founded it in the early 80s and launched its first ranges in the early 90s, with four terroir wines, three red cuvées and one white cuvée.

The terroir of Domaine Peyre Rose

The Domaine Peyre Rose terroir is located on the heights of the Saint Pargoire commune. A natural rampart of garrigue stands between the vineyards and the urbanized area. The average age of the vines is 30 years.

The vineyard covers 24 hectares: 21 hectares of reds and 3 hectares of whites. The red grape varieties are Syrah (80%), Grenache noir (15%) and Mourvèdre (5%). White grapes are Rolle (65%), Roussanne (33%) and Viognier (2%).

The estate is farmed organically. Harvesting is naturally manual. Average production at Domaine Peyre Rose is 30,000 bottles a year. Production is fairly limited, but Marlène Soria has managed to carve out a reputation for excellence. Her wines are praised in the specialist press and her fans are loyal. She's even nicknamed the diva of Syrah in the region.

The wines of Domaine Peyre Rose

Marlène N°3 du Domaine Peyre Rose

Domaine Peyre Rose's Marlène N°3 red wine is a blend of 65% Syrah and 35% Grenache, from vines located on the stoniest part of the vineyard, as well as on clay-limestone soils.

The wine boasts a magnificent deep carmine color. The nose is reminiscent of garrigue, but also of stewed red and black fruits. Full-bodied and fleshy on the palate. Tannins play an important role in its structure, while Grenache adds roundness to the wine. The aromas of Marlène N°3 are full of blond tobacco, menthol and olives.

Clos des Cistes red

Clos des Cistes red wine belongs to the Coteaux du Languedoc appellation. It is made from Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache grapes grown on the stony soils of Domaine Peyre Rose.

Clos des Cistes is cherry-colored with purplish highlights. The nose is fine, but very powerful. There are scents of garrigue, wild blackberry and mocha.

The palate is deep. Black fruits dominate, accompanied by spicy notes. The wine is balanced, with fine tannins and constant aromatic freshness.
