Initio

4.3
(20 customer reviews)
Initio is the project of two friends who met on the benches of KEDGE Business School. On the one hand, Damien Sartorius comes from the renowned Barton family of winegrowers, a great name in the Médoc, and on the other, Benjamin Joyeux, an enlightened wine lover who has evolved far from the codes of Bordeaux classicism. Their idea: to create branded wines and make them easier to read, while offering very high quality products. Find out more

The winemaker

A noble project

The project of these two students, cultivated by the two friends thanks to their common passion for wine, was born during an entrepreneurial competition. The initial postulate is as follows: the consumer is reluctant to immerse himself in the world of wine because it is a complex universe, with codes that are difficult to decipher. Benjamin Joyeux experienced this at the beginning of his adventure when he noticed the lack of clarity of the labels and terms used.

As for Damien Sartorius, he knows only too well the ecosystem of the great Bordeaux châteaux and has been able to break away from the conservatism that is often the norm in prestigious estates. This is how Initio was born. Joining forces, the two young men decided to offer the consumer a gateway to an environment that is less complicated than it seems by creating quality wines with simple and didactic labels.

Initiatory wines

This bet was a winner as the two friends won the said competition. So no more doubts: they took the plunge. By collaborating with several winemakers, they managed to create wines that reflect particular terroirs. They refuse to blend anything in order to highlight the work of the winemakers and accompany them throughout the winemaking process.

At present, Initio offers three wines in all three colours. On the one hand, there is the red Initio Pinot Noir in association with Domaine Girard. It reveals fruity and greedy aromas while remaining fresh and elegant. On the other hand, Initio captivates with its Sauvignon Blanc to which the citrus aromas give freshness and balance. Produced in partnership with Vignobles Dubourg, the quality is there thanks to the family's ancestral know-how.

Finally, Initio also offers a Muscat de Rivesaltes rosé with characteristic aromas of flowers and stone fruits. The particularity of its wines lies in the simplicity of its labels, which hide nothing from the consumer and allow him to enter a world that is usually unknown.

A gourmet proposal

Initio completes its offer by proposing on its website a large number of gourmet recipes and wine pairings to further delight the palate of its fans. Renewed every month or every season, these are seasonal recipes that raise awareness of sustainable agriculture, an essential value for the two founders.

Indeed, their wines come from environmentally friendly estates using sustainable farming practices. For example, Domaine Piquemal, which collaborated on the creation of the brand's rosé, holds a High Environmental Value certification attesting to its commitment to the environment.
