The winemaker

The vines of Mas de la Barben is located near the town of Nîmes, on a plateau more than 200 meters. The wines are Languedoc appellation. The soils are calcareous clay and have a very high stone content. The climate is Mediterranean, marked by a strong mistral, more present than on the Hérault area of the appellation. The first plots of the Mas de la Barben were planted in 1964, which today can produce wines from old vines complex and highly concentrated aromas. Today, the area has about 15 hectares of vineyards, whose feet are aged about 50 years. Damien Hermann and Arielle Premium manage Mas de la Barben, with the desire to highlight another facet of Languedoc wines, more elegant and fine. This is possible due to the altitude of the vineyards, which allows them both ideal exposure and optimum freshness. They consider their wines as "grand cru" designation which does not yet exist in this region, with good reason. Indeed, the delicacy and complexity of their wines were time and again highlighted by famous enologists critics.
