The winemaker

Welcome to the center of Languedoc, in Montblanc, at Frédéric Albert's. You will discover a traditional house in the south of France, with thick basalt walls: the Villa Sépia. Established for about ten years, he has set himself the goal of producing top-notch vintages, favoring quality over quantity.

The Villa Sépia estate

The estate is made up of five hectares of vines, among which we find various grape varieties. Carginan, but also Grenache, Viognier or even Syrah, Sauvignon blanc, and finally Roussanne and Chenin blanc. We can say that a large panel is represented to allow the most diverse creations. What all these grape varieties have in common is the care they take: the cultivation of the vine, here, is without persticides and without chemicals. Only with organic products that are acceptable for bees: the estate is certified "Bee Friendly". Fred and Catherine actually cultivate biodynamically in this area located on the upper part of this small village in the east of Bézier. We seek life in the soils, which are protected by pine forests in order to promote biodiversity, and the grass and vegetation share the soil with the vines. This is carefully accompanied until its maturation, to finally harvest it by hand during the harvest.

The vinification

For Frédéric, the philosophy and the choices made in the fields continue in the cellar. No chemical additives, including sulphites, are allowed in the cellar. The wines of Villa Sépia are full of life and vitality. They are raised according to the same principles as those used to cultivate the vine and most strictly respect nature. The grapes harvested and sorted by hand only use the yeasts naturally present in the berries for winemaking, to reflect the terroir of the region. These harvests are often the occasion to welcome "Woofers", volunteers who work a few hours a day in exchange for lodging and food, because Fred is keen to share his love of this profession and to show what he learned about nature.

The wines of Villa Sépia

Thanks to the diversity of grape varieties, the estate offers no less than 9 cuvées. All their names end in "Tick" because it is the affectionate nickname given to Frédéric in the village of Montblanc. The Romantick rosé wine is a very fresh 100% Grenache. For the cuvées in white wine, you can discover Lunatick in the Viognier variety, and Poetick in the old Terret Bourret variety. These are dry whites, but the estate also offers a sweet white wine Meetick. For red wines, Artisitck Charismatick Enigmatick and Galactik invite you to discover each of the different grape varieties with blends ranging from fruity to spicy, from gourmet to warm. Great discoveries of biodynamic wines every time.
