The winemaker

The History of Domaine de Montcy

Domaine de Montcy has been built up gradually since the 1990s. The vineyards that belonged to the Château de Troussay are at the origin of the vineyard. Other terroirs then came to complete the vineyard, belonging to the villages of Cheverny, Cormeray, Chitenay, and more recently Celettes.

Since 2003, Vincent Hayer has been the winemaker and manager of Domaine de Montcy, supported by the Chevrier family. In late 2020, he began work on a new winery, located in Cormeray, which should be operational for the 2022 harvest. It will complement the historic winery at Porte Dorée and keep up with Domaine de Montcy's increasing production.

The Domaine de Montcy vineyard

The Domaine de Montcy vineyard covers 30 hectares, divided equally between red and white grape varieties. The average age of the vines is 35 years. The entire vineyard belongs to the AOC Cheverny and Cour Cheverny appellations. The average annual production is 70,000 bottles.

The red grape varieties are 60% Pinot Noir, 35% Gamay Noir and 5% Malbec (Côt). The white grape varieties are represented by 70% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Chardonnay and 5% Romorantin. The estate also has a heritage of old Sauvignon vines planted on the Clos des Cendres, the most famous of the estate.

The estate has been certified organic since 2012, and Demeter biodynamic since 2015. This orientation was decided to guarantee the quality of the wines, to preserve the health of the vines and the planet, but also for the health of the teams who work day after day on the estate.

The estate does not use chemical fertilizers and is organized around its vines of other crops to promote biodiversity.

The wines of Domaine de Montcy

Cuvée Lucé Blanc - AOC Cour-Cheverny

Domaine de Montcy's Cuvée Lucé is made only from Romorantin. It is a wine expressing the typicity of its unique grape variety, very rich and perfectly balanced. The nose is deep and complex and fine mineral notes appear quickly. The attack in mouth is frank and direct. It is powerful, round and greedy, always fresh. We find its mineral notes that persist in the mouth.

The Lucé cuvée has a potential to be kept for a dozen years. You can enjoy it with asparagus, artichokes or a turkey curry sautéed with crème fraîche.

Red Cabriole Vintage - AOC Cheverny

The Cabriole cuvée is a blend of Gamay, Pinot Noir and a small touch of Malbec. The nose is typical of Pinot Noir with spicy and smoky notes. The Malbec brings a complexity which is discovered in the wide range of its aromas. The mouth is supple and round.

It always remains fresh. The Cabriole vintage has a potential of guarding of 4 years. It accompanies with delight your aperitifs of charcuterie, followed by dishes of grilled meats.
