The History of the Montgilet Estate
The Domaine de Montgilet lies in the commune of Juigné sur Loire, near the city of Angers, on the site where the famous battle between Crassus and Dumas took place in 52 BC. At this place, the Loire is the widest, with 700 meters from one bank to the other, which allowed the foundation of the historical port that allowed the export of Anjou wines.
The Domaine de Montgilet vineyard was created in the 1880s. In the early 20th century, it was owned by Victor Lebreton, who died in 1997 at the age of 97. Shortly before, the estate was taken over by his son, also named Victor. Today, his sons, Victor (!) and Vincent, manage the Domaine de Montgilet.
