The winemaker

The domains

In Chavignol, the Bourgeois family property is composed of parcels spread over 72 hectares in the region with varied soils of flint, Kimmeridgian marl and limestone clay. These typical terroirs of the Loire give wines with a great minerality. The grape variety is composed of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir,

In New Zealand, at Clos Henri, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc are also king.

The expertise of 10 generations of winemakers

The work of viticulture is quite an art for the Bourgeois family. It relies not only on the family heritage, on the experience passed on to each generation, but also on more modern techniques. The instinct of the producer does the rest, to offer each vintage wines of excellence, knowing how to express all the richness of the terroirs and the grape varieties from which they are made.

The cultivation of the vine is carried out in the respect of the environment and the natural surroundings. The viticultural work and each stage of production are adapted to the specific needs of each plot. The inputs are limited, the grassing of the rows is favored and the yields are controlled to obtain the best possible quality.

The vinification is parcel by parcel, the Bourgeois family has been a pioneer in this field. It is carried out in the property's gravity-fed cellar.

The wines

Les Baronnes is a white Sancerre cuvée, a harmonious and powerful wine, with notes of citrus and exotic fruits, typical of its terroir. It will be perfect with fish or scallops. The cuvée has won numerous awards and mentions in specialized guides.

Les Baronnes is a cuvée also produced in Sancerre Rouge, with a wine made with Pinot Noir grapes. It is distinguished by its aromas of raspberry and Morello cherry with subtle woody notes. It is a fine yet complex wine, a great success of the Bourgeois family.

La Bourgeoise and another cuvée in Red Sancerre made from a rigorous selection of very old vines. It is a wine with notes of ripe red fruits and vanilla, ruby in color with garnet highlights.

Les Baronnes is also offered in Sancerre rosé, with this very fruity cuvée. It is a refreshing rosé wine, very balanced with aromas of red fruits, apricots and citrus, enhanced by more floral, slightly mentholated notes. It will be perfect, enjoyed chilled as an aperitif or to accompany a summer meal or picnic.

La demoiselle Bourgeois is a Pouilly-Fumé made from a rigorous selection of Sauvignon. It is a great white wine, fine and complex, with fruity aromas with woody notes. It has a good ageing potential, from 8 to 10 years, and goes well with fish as well as poultry.
