The winemaker

The long history of a resolutely modern estate


The estate's long history dates back to 1768. It was restructured at the beginning of the 20th century, although it has remained in the same family to this day. This exceptional longevity lends consistency to the way we approach the quality of the wines made at the estate. In 1998, Philippe Gilbert took over, and in 2005 initiated the conversion of the estate to organic farming, following the precepts of biodynamics. Today, the qualitative evolution continues, and the domaine boasts unique and highly prized references.

Terroir and vineyard


The estate of just under 30 hectares is divided between two grape varieties, one red, one white, Pinot noir on one side, Sauvignon blanc on the other. The winemaking process is varied and often quasi-experimental, yet committed to the development of an exceptional terroir.

The wines of Domaine Philippe Gilbert


Proof of its astonishing expertise, the domaine produces wines of remarkable variety from its only two grape varieties. Among the 12 references, all waiting to be discovered, are the white "Chandelières", an explosive blend capable of holding its own with a spicy meal, and the "35 rangs", a deep, surprisingly structured 100% pinot noir red.
