The winemaker

The story of the Lieubeau family and the vineyard begins with Joseph Grégoire Lieubeau in 1816. Still a child at the time, he was found alone in the streets of Nantes and taken in by a family of winegrowers. His adoptive family taught him all they knew about winegrowing and bequeathed their vineyard to him. Several generations of the Lieubeau family followed in the footsteps of their successful ancestors. The estate emblem depicts a child in a hat, a symbol of the estate's history. In 1982, the family estate moved from La Haye Fouassière to Château Thébaud. The domaine produces great white Loire Valley wines using sustainable agriculture, from Melon de Bourgogne, Melon Blanc, Muscadet, Chardonnay and Sauvignon.
