St Nicolas de Bourgueil in the "Les Mauguerets -la Contrie" cuvée comes from vines located on the gravelly plateau south of the road linking St Nicolas and Bourgueil. The main characteristic of this terroir is the early warming of the soil due to the presence of gravel of large granulometry. This greatly facilitates grape ripening. The wine is fruity and colorful. Yield 48 to 55 hl/hectare (depending on vintage) Vinification Total destemming 5 to 6 weeks maceration with daily pumping over. Fermentation with natural grape yeasts. For once, a Loire red has caught my attention (I'm not a fan of Cabernet Franc)! It's smooth, easy, easy-drinking, fruity and has no undesirable bell pepper taste. I recommend it!
