The winemaker

The House SAUVION is installed in the heart of Nantais vineyards in Cléray-Sauvion Castle in Eolie. Eolie, wind country, evoking the gentle ocean breeze that caresses the vines. Collected by Ernest SAUVION in 1935, the castle-Cléray Sauvion is with its old vaulted cellars, one of the oldest properties in the vineyard Sevre and Maine. It covers 95 hectares planted mainly Muscadet Sevre & Maine, but Gros-Plant, Chardonnay and Sauvignon. The floors are sand-clay rather late soil but rich, high aging potential. Historically, SAUVION House occupies a well apart in the vineyard by its style, the quality of its Muscadet as well as its distribution mainly through traditional channels or on niche markets. To assert its difference, the SAUVION House offers Haute Culture Sauvion, a line that brings a refined presentation of gastronomy Muscadet expressing finesse, elegance and style that characterize the "signature" SAUVION. These Muscadet High Culture also reveal the characteristics of the soil and some, because of their structure and richness, become astonishing guard wines reminding the Burgundian grape melon. From the beginning of its activity, the House SAUVION has made every effort to give acclaim to his Muscadet, valuing the entire appellation. Today it is over 60% of its wines the House SAUVION exports to over 80 countries, making thus the ambassador of the Nantais vineyard. The Muscadet find themselves on the most prestigious tables around the world. Pierre-Jean Sauvion, son of Yves Sauvion, was born in the middle of the garden, the house parent is surrounded by vineyards. Cradled in the wine environment since childhood, fascinated by the culture of wine, winemaker Pierre-Jean is a graduate of the University of Bordeaux. After graduation, he fashioned wines in California, Australia, in Alsace, in Cahors, in the Bordeaux ... and returned to the family home at Castle Cléray - Sauvion in 2004. Now, Pierre-Jean, "Shaper of Pleasure", shapes the wines of Maison Sauvion to our delight, the g'Loire wines.
