The History of the Chateau of Demoiselles

The Château des Demoiselles was once owned by the Grimaldis of Monaco. The typically Provencal bastide sits in the middle of its immense 300-hectare estate and an avenue of century-old plane trees welcomes you.

The Château des Demoiselles has been converted into a guest house that allows you to follow an oenology course and enjoy its wonderful setting.

Since 2007, the Château des Demoiselles has been managed by Aurélie Bertin.

The Château des Demoiselles vineyard

The total area of the estate covers 300 hectares, of which 72 hectares are dedicated to vineyards. Château des Demoiselles produces an average of 350,000 bottles per year, the majority of which is rosé wine.

The vineyard extends in the Esclans valley, around the commune of La Motte. The relief alternates between hillsides and plains. The soil is made up of red clay-limestone soils.

The grape varieties of the estate are composed of :
- Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon for the red wine;
- Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Tibouren, Grenache, Rolle and Syrah for the rosé wine ;
- Rolle and Ugni blanc for white wine.

The Château des Demoiselles vineyard is conducted as naturally as possible, in order to respect the environment and biodiversity. Some areas remain grassed and green harvesting is done to control yields. Leaf removal allows for optimization and harmonization of the ripeness of each bunch.

The current owner of Château des Demoiselles, Aurélie Bertin, has committed the estate to a transition to a more responsible development model. In April 2021, the estate acquired the wine industry's first CSR label, "Vignerons Engagés".

The estate had already received in 201 919 the HVE - High Environmental Value - level 3 label, the highest grade of certification.
