The winemaker

The history of Château Nestuby

In 1947, Jean Roubaud unearthed a 19th-century bastide in the heights of the Var, in the commune of Cotignac. The building stands amid a natural setting of vines and fruit trees. It conceals a unique treasure: a spring that irrigates the entire estate and whose name is Nestuby.

The first wine was bottled in 1949, and one vintage followed another ever since. In 1984, Jean's son Jean-François Roubaud took over Château Nestuby. The vineyard expanded to 88 hectares, its current size, and the facilities were modernized.

Part of the estate is reserved for tourism, with guest rooms set up in a newly converted part of the bastide. Since 2010, Jean-François' son Romain has joined the business, joined in 2017 by his brother Damien.

The Château Nestuby vineyard

Château Nestuby's 88 hectares are classified as AOC Côtes de Provence. Many grape varieties are grown: Mourvèdre, Syrah, Cinsault, Grenache, Clairette, Ugni Blanc, Cabernet sauvignon, Sémillon, Carignan, etc.

The vines grow on clay-limestone soil that is perfectly suited to vines dedicated to the great wines of Provence. The Nestuby spring ensures constant hydration of the vines.

The Château Nestuby estate is run using integrated farming methods. The vines are entirely trellised. Weeding and harvesting are done by hand.

The wines of Château Nestuby

The Château Nestuby estate boasts a wide variety of still wines, as well as a range of sparkling wines. Production belongs to the AOC Côtes de Provence.

Château Nestuby Blanc

Château Nestuby Blanc is a blend of 42% Semillon, 38% Ugni Blanc and 20% Rolle. The wine is pale yellow, limpid and brilliant. The nose is bursting with fruity flavors, dominated by citrus fruits and complemented by notes of white peaches and ripe pears.

The palate is rich and structured. It remains unflaggingly fresh. Citrus aromas follow through on the palate, with a finish that evokes hazelnut and almond.

La Bulle de Nestuby

La Bulle de Nestuby is a white sparkling wine made using the traditional method. It is made from Cinsault and Grenache grapes. This is a lively, fresh brut sparkling wine. Perfect for aperitifs, it is also a delicious accompaniment to fruit or chocolate desserts.

Cuvée Prestige Rosée du Château Nestuby

Château Nestuby's Cuvée Prestige Rosée is a blend of 55% Grenache, 21% Cinsault, 14% Semillon and 10% Carignan. The rosé has a very pale pink color. The nose is fruity, imbued with white fruits and yellow peaches. Tart notes of vine peach can also be detected.

The palate is particularly long and always balanced. White fruits are always present, while the finish offers flavors of mashed banana.
