The winemaker

A family history

Domaine de la Rasque is a relatively young vineyard. Indeed, it was entirely planted by Gerard and Monique Biancone in 1983 with the goal of creating a traditional vineyard in the heart of Provence. Over the years, what was originally just a wood, a simple Provencal countryside, has become a renowned estate in the region. A decade later, in order to meet the growing demand, the Biancone family undertook the construction of larger facilities to accommodate the clientele and to improve the capacity of the winery's aging facilities.
The 15-hectare estate was expanded in the following years when the Biancone family acquired more vineyard parcels such as Clos Jasmin and Domaine de l'Hermitage de Saint Pons, which complemented the property's red and rosé ranges.

In 2005, Sophie, one of Gérard and Monique's daughters, joined her parents at the head of the estate to take over the reins. She brings her personal touch to the wines of the house and contributes to the development of the wine tourism offer of the domain with accommodation facilities and a privatization offer for weddings. Today she is assisted by her younger brother Enzo on communication issues that help modernize the image of Château Rasque.

Respectful vineyard management for unique wines

Located in the interior of the Var region, Château Rasque enjoys an ideal climate, typical of the great Côtes de Provence. The continental climate enhanced by marine influences transmits to the vines just the right amount of freshness to allow the characteristic grape varieties of Provence to flourish. The particular soil of the domain, made up of clay and limestone, and located high on alpine folds, is a major asset of the house because it allows the cultivation of a diverse ecosystem at the very heart of the vine and allows it to feed on rich nutrients. These elements are the winning recipe for making white and rosé wines with fruity and floral aromas while the red wines are free to develop power balanced by fine tannins.

High-flying vintages

Château Rasque wines come in all three colors and in four different cuvées: Cuvée Spéciale, Cuvée Château, Cuvée Clos de Madame and Cuvée Héritage. The house wines are wines of character that are the perfect reflection of the Provencal terroir. They express all its specificities in subtle agreements, sometimes fresh and delicate, sometimes deep and elegant.
