About Château Saint-Maur

The Château Saint-Maur is located on the western side of the plain linking the foothills of the Maures massif to the sea. It is a building dating from the end of the 19th century. Its architectural style is reminiscent of 18th century Moorish Spain. Below, you can see the vineyards that stretch over the hillsides with the garrigue and the cork oaks. Roger Zannier became the owner of this magnificent estate in 2011.

With its hundred or so hectares, he set himself the goal of becoming one of the most prestigious references in Provence. A mission that he has largely achieved with Marc Monrose, his son-in-law. It is he who manages the vineyard. His winery has been operational since the 2013 vintage. It is one of the most efficient in the Côtes de Provence appellation. It has a vinification capacity of 5000 hectolitres.

The estate and its vines

The estate has 100 hectares, 60 of which are planted vines. After a geological study of the estate's land, vines with almost no yields are removed so that new "adapted" vines can be planted.

The vineyard is cultivated in integrated agriculture with the greatest respect for the environment. The subsoil is composed of clay-limestone, schist and sandy-silt soils. The geographical situation is ideal for these vines which flourish wonderfully. Indeed, the south-east-west exposure, the maritime climatic influence and the mistral wind slowed down by the famous Maures massif make it a perfect place.

The changes at Château Saint-Maur

Since Roger Zannier became the owner in 2011, the Château has changed a little. In 2012, he acquired an additional 12 hectares of vineyards. These are at an altitude of 449 metres in the 'Clos de Capelune', a top-of-the-range rosé. A year later, after nine months of intensive work, a high-tech winery was built.

But Roger Zannier did not do all this alone. Indeed, he is assisted by Marc Monrose, oenologist and director of the estate. He enthusiastically develops all his know-how in order to produce quality work. This is what allows the wines to acquire a certain excellence as well as the nobility of the Rosés of Provence.

Since 1995, Château Saint-Maur has proudly been awarded the Cru Classé label. The latter ensures the excellence of the terroir as well as the know-how of the estate. The Château's vineyard is run by a family of winegrowers from the Douro Valley in Portugal.
