The winemaker

The Olivette Estate

The Domaine de l'Olivette is a family estate and has belonged to the Dumontier family for several generations. It covers 55 hectares of vines and is one of the oldest in the Bandol appellation.

It has existed for more than two hundred years and is located on the slopes of Castellet. Before the vine became the queen in the 1930s, the pillars of mixed farming were cultivated here. Part of the vines are planted on the estate, the rest are scattered over the surrounding plots.

It is this diversity that gives the wines this "beautiful typicity". The estate is a member of the "Vignerons Indépendant" and advocates authenticity and respect for the terroir. The last two generations have taken the decision to modernise the cellar with the help of the latest and most efficient equipment.

The domain's know-how

After a manual harvest, the estate has set up a double sorting system to guarantee perfect grape quality. Moreover, the owners have installed a new vat room with automated temperature control to perfect the elaboration of their wines.

The cellar for maturing the reds has several oak containers with an ageing time adapted to the profile of each wine. Since 2014, the Domaine de l'Olivette has been certified "High Environmental Value". A process that aims to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture.

Two vintages available in three colours

The estate produces two cuvées in the three colours. Firstly, we find "Les Cuvées Tradition", true authentic Bandol wines. Elegant wines with no artifice. These cuvées highlight the terroir and the hard work of the winemaker. The Red is full of character and powerful, with a blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre and a royal Bandol grape variety.

As for the rosés and whites, their aromas are fine and subtle thanks to the winemaking process that favours structure. Then comes "Les Cuvées Spéciales". They are made from the best plots and have the same requirements as the previous cuvées. Here, the Rosés are ideal for gourmet meals and are blended with Grenache and old Mourvèdre. The reds are of great finesse and composed mainly of Mourvèdre.

Bandol wines have developed over the centuries. Indeed, the first vines were planted in the 6th century BC, around the small village of Castellet. For the small anecdote, the wines of Bandol had the honor to be found at the royal table of Louis XV.
