The winemaker

History

Harry Gozlan had a career in finance and computer programming before buying the estate and going into wine production. An unusual career path from which he manages to draw parallels with growing grapes. He tells Flash Matin newspaper "for example, even if you don't master all the parameters, you have to succeed in putting in place certain methodologies to create something that is new and, in the context of wine, appealing to the consumer."
Through this conversion, he is committed alongside his wife to protecting the agricultural and wine heritage of Provence.

Know-how

Today, La Mongestine works with a dozen grape varieties, mostly AOP Coteaux-d'Aix, on 36 hectares of hillside vineyards.
Syrah, Grenache noir, Cinsault, Vermentino, Grenache Blanc, Pinot Noir, Roussanne, Sauvignon, king grapes of the Mediterranean region are notably cultivated.
Harry Golzan has kept the good methods of his predecessor and the same team to continue to take care of the vines. The land is worked entirely by hand with respect for the environment.
In the cellar, the winemaker works only with indigenous yeasts, allowing each grape variety to freely express its full potential. Very few sulfites are added artificially, which results in more open and expressive wines.
The soil is clay-limestone on the lower part of the vineyard and very stony at the foot of the hill and allows for the elaboration of varied and carefully studied vintages.

The wines

The cuvée Roussane and the cuvée Pinot noir are made, as their names suggest, from single-variety grapes finely crafted with the aim of bringing out their full palette.

The cuvée des Monges is vinified with very little added sulfites. The 2020 vintage yields fresh, fruit-driven wines. Les Monges rosé is a delicate cuvée composed of Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Vermentino with notes of citrus and white fruits. Les Monges white, made from a blend of Clairette, Sauvignon Blanc and Vermentino, is a mineral and fruity wine perfect for summer.

The cuvée M is composed of Grenache and Syrah. On the palate, aromas of red fruits, garrigue and mint shine through.

The cuvée Auguste made from 100% Syrah reveals aromas of red fruits, spices and undergrowth.

The cuvée Georgette made from 100% Vermentino gives a fleshy wine with melting tannins and reveals notes of spice

The cuvée Bob Singlar is a range dedicated to the aperitif.
The rosé is very fruity, perfect for summer and reveals citrus aromas.
The red is a light and supple wine with red fruit aromas.
