The winemaker

The History of the Navicelle Estate

Since 2006, Domaine de la Navicelle was managed by Jannick Utard, a winemaker of Alsatian origin. He sold it in 2019.

Since then, Domaine de la Navicelle has been managed by Romain Magnanou, the operations manager. He took over the estate, having forged his experience in the vineyards of Provence, but also in a Grand Cru Classé estate in Bordeaux.

Romain is supported by Alice Euvrard who is the sales and marketing manager. Originally from Burgundy, Alice is a fine oenologist who has worked in the commercial department of a famous vineyard in Roussillon.

The Domaine de la Navicelle vineyard

The vineyard of the Domaine de la Navicelle is integrated into a typically Provencal wild landscape. It extends over 21 hectares which are conducted in biodynamics, always in the respect of nature. Since 2014, the farm is certified AB (Organic Agriculture) and, since 2019, in HVE (High Environmental Value).

The Domaine de la Navicelle thus uses only natural products and favors manual work. The terroir of Domaine de la Navicelle is made up of red clay, dominating a rocky subsoil, composed of limestone, schist and sandstone. The vines are in restanques, dry stone walls supporting a terraced culture, typical of Provence.

The grape varieties of Domaine de la Navicelle are Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Tibouren and Cinsault for the reds and rosés, Rolle and Clairette for the whites.

The wines of Domaine de la Navicelle

Domaine de la Navicelle wines have a reputation for a refreshing minerality that enriches the nectars.

Côte de Provence Navicelle Rosé

The Côte de Provence Navicelle Rosé is made from a blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Tibouren. It is a perfectly balanced wine, between freshness and greediness. Its nose is fine and fruity. One can detect fresh fruits, like peach, as well as citrus fruits. These aromas are complemented by scents of white flowers.

The mouth is complex, very round and always fine. The Côte de Provence Navicelle Rosé is a delicate, elegant and greedy wine that should be consumed before three years. It works wonderfully alongside exotic Asian cuisine, spicy dishes and sweet-salty blends.

Domaine de la Navicelle Côtes de Provence Zephir Blanc

The white Zephir is entirely composed of the Rolle grape. Its vinification is carried out in barrels, in the manner of the great white Burgundies. The aging on fine lees lasts 8 months.

The Côtes de Provence Zéphir Blanc of the Domaine de la Navicelle is a generous, ample and subtle wine which can be kept for up to 7 years. Its nose is filled with vanilla and candied fruits. Its mouth is balanced, soft and ample. This white wine is a delightful accompaniment to white meat, fish in sauce, and sweet and sour dishes.
