The winemaker

The area Sainte-Marie is named after the statue of the Virgin watching over him since 1884, when a cholera epidemic stopped on his land. Between tradition and modernity, the wines of Domaine Sainte Marie are all organic. They can be found in some New York wine merchants on many tropéziennes tables and better taste to the field with us. For us, being winemaker is to leave the land to grow with more honesty, accuracy. It is also to listen to our customers. In the end it is an exchange between the earth and the customers often wine lovers. A wine that looks like me is an honest wine, elegant and clean. In April 2000, in the Ribera del Duero region, I have met Emilio Moro still in its dilapidated area. Our tasting lasts nearly two hours even when his vehicle left running before the vault. A simple and improvised moment that will remain etched in my memory. A rite of passage? Aviner glass before each tasting. My guru? Bruno Rocca, in the Piedmont region, Barbaresco. What talent ! The word of the winemaker: My love for wine started young, when 7 years I have experienced, for the first time, champagne. In our valley, the area Sainte Marie is the only one to produce a wine in organic farming: it is a typical first in its history and the nature of the wine. In the land of the area Provence Sainte Marie has a very high thermal amplitude related to the bowl effect of the valley in summer the temperature can rise up to 40 degrees the day and down the next night below 15 degrees: it is due to moisture tablecloths crossing the valley. This temperature range will allow the grapes to reach maturity faster. The vines are planted in soil in most shale-mica schist kind. This tends to give our wines a good performance and an acidity necessary for rosé from Provence. For the rest, I leave you to discover how our wine is different from the other.
