The winemaker

The History of the Garlaban Winegrowers


The Cave Coopérative d'Auriol was founded in 1924 and prospered until the 1970s, when it began to decline. It was then that its leaders decided to merge with other cooperative wineries in the region: La Destrousse, Gemenos, Cuges-les-Pins and Saint-Zacharie. At the end of the 80s, the Garlaban Winegrowers' Cellar was officially born, borrowing its name from the rock dear to Marcel Pagnol, visible to all the partner winegrowers.

Joined by the Cooperative of La Ciotat in 2005, it adopted its full name of Vignerons du Garlaban et du Golfe d'Amour and chose as its slogan: From the Hills to the Sea.

In 2018, the construction of a new modern winery on the road to Saint-Zacharie allowed for improved production and storage of wines.

The vineyard of the Vignerons du Garlaban


The terroir of the Vignerons du Garlaban covers more than 200 hectares. It extends over the foothills of the Sainte Baume massif, on the communes of Cuges les Pins, Gemenos, Auriol and Saint-Zacharie, as well as around the Garlaban and the communes of La Destrousse, Peypin, Roquevaire, Aubagne, Allauch and Marseille. The last part is located on restanques, between La Ciotat and Ceyreste.

The vineyard belongs to several winemakers, managing independent estates.

The Domaine de l'Andouiller
Domaine de L'Andouiller, a former hunting lodge and property of the Brémond family for eight generations, is located in the commune of Allauch.

The Domaine de Fontvieille
The Fontvieille estate belongs to the commune of Roquefort La Bédoule, near Cassis. It is entirely conducted in organic agriculture, without chemical input or pesticide.
