The winemaker

The Producer

Adrien Roustan studied viticulture and worked on wine farms in California and Burgundy. In 2009, he took over part of his grandfather's land and created the Domaine d'Ouréa. He immediately began converting the vineyard to organic farming. His efforts were rewarded three years later, with the 2012 achievement of organic farming certification.

His desire is to produce wines that express all the beauty of the terroirs of his estate. In the same search for quality, the grapes are harvested by hand, to retain only the best grains in the production of the wine. He continues his search for biological balance between the environment and the vines with a transition to Biodynamics initiated in 2020.

The work in the cellar is done with the same rigor and search for naturalness. The wine is aged exclusively in concrete tanks to preserve the delicacy and purity of flavors. The wines are bottled and marketed young, to keep the fruit all its naturalness and dynamism.

The Vineyard

The vineyard is made up of eight grape varieties, allowing for varied blends bringing diversity and complexity to the Domaine d'Ouréa vintages. Grenache is the majority on the estate, the plots also host Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan, as well as three old Côtes du Rhônes grape varieties, Oeillade, Aramon and Counoise.

The estate's land is divided among 18 parcels, each with its own particularities. Four terroirs stand out and a cuvée is produced from each.

Five parcels are in AOC Gigondas. They cover 4.5 hectares and are located in the place called Grand Montmirail at an altitude of nearly 500 meters.

The parcels in AOC Vacqueyras extend over the small hillsides to the northwest of the appellation on yellow and blue clay soils.

The terroir in AOC Côtes du Rhône consists of garrigues, with light soil and a multitude of limestone pebbles.

The estate has four parcels in IGP Vaucluse Tire Bouchon, near the Ouvèze River. The sandy soil is enriched with silt as a result.

The wines

The Domaine d'Ouréa markets four vintages of red wine, one for each terroir, but also two vintages of rosé wines in AOC Vacqueyras and IGP Vaucluse Tire Bouchon and one of white in AOC Vacqueyras.

The red AOC Gigondas is a racy and fine red wine offering notes of ripe fruit and fresh fruit, with floral aromas of peony. Grenache is the majority, representing 80% of the blend. It is complemented by 5% Cinsault, Syrah, Carignan and Mourvèdre.

The AOC Vacqueyras cuvée is a fine and mineral red wine, made from the best terroirs of the estate. It is made with 85% Grenache, blended with Cinsault, Mourvèdre and Carignan in equal parts.

The estate's red Côtes du Rhône is a natural wine with a complex aromatic bouquet offering floral notes of blue and black flowers and fruity aromas of blueberry and black currant.

The IGP Vaucluse Tire Bouchon red wine has a nose blending floral, spicy and fruity notes with aromas of wild strawberry, cherry and fresh fruit.
