The winemaker

The history of the estate

Julien Pilon developed his taste for vines as early as elementary school, when the teacher suggested that the children vinify and bottle wild grapes! A BTS in viticulture/oenology and a number of encounters and travels later inspired him to produce his own wines, with a single watchword: respect for the terroir to better reveal the identity of each wine.

Terroir characteristics

The estate is located precisely on the Condrieu terroir. The vineyards of the northern Rhône valley are mainly made up of steep, difficult-to-access hillsides, stretching along both banks of the Rhône. The soil contains granite and the vines are planted in terraces, demarcated by low walls.

Julien Pilon wines

Julien Pilon produces its wines from grape varieties such as Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, Petit Manseng and Syrah. His white wines have the appellation Crozes-Hermitage (fresh, pleasant wines), Saint-Peray (sparkling white wines), Saint-Joseph, Hermitage and Condrieu (quality dry and semi-dry wines). As for red wines, they are produced under the Saint-Joseph (soft wines), Cornas and Côte-Rôtie appellations; the latter, powerful and rich in tannins, are particularly appreciated by wine lovers.
