The winemaker

The new Saint Luc estate is run by wine lovers

Domaine Saint Luc was founded in 1971 by a wine enthusiast. He restored an old family farmhouse and transformed it into a family business. Unfortunately, 30 years later, he was forced to sell due to health problems. Stéphane Hémard and his wife Pascale took over the estate. They developed production and established a range of well-rounded wines in two appellations. Today, Olivier and Marie have taken over the running of the estate. These two young winemakers have a wealth of experience from prestigious estates in the south of France. They know the potential of the region's terroir.

The Saint Luc estate diversifies into two terroirs with marked differences

The estate covers 36 hectares and five communes. Its territory includes two appellations: Grignan les Adhémar and Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Suze la Rousse. The terroirs are different, and the winemakers adapt to their specific characteristics. In the Côtes du Rhône Villages vineyards, the soil is rich in red clay and Rhône pebbles. This terroir produces full-bodied wines with spicy aromas. At Grignan les Adhémar, the clays are light and mixed with sand, a terroir conducive to the production of elegant wines with ripe fruit aromas.

Vine-growing is organized around controlled yields that concentrate the terroir in the fruit. The preservation of biodiversity and responsible management of water resources have enabled the "High Environmental Value" farm to obtain level 3 of the corresponding label.

The wines of Domaine Saint Luc offer a satisfying variety

The domaine produces seven different wines in the two appellations. In Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Suze la Rousse, Syrah and Grenache come together to produce two warm wines with aromas tinged with garrigue. At Grignan les Adhémar, all three wine colors are represented: the white is made from viognier and bourboulenc; the rosé combines grenache, bourboulenc and cinsault; and finally, the red is produced in three cuvées, one of which is made from old vines of syrah and viognier. This subtle blend is the jewel of the domaine, produced in limited quantities in numbered bottles.
