The winemaker
The history of the estate
Domaine de Saint Roch is a family story. Sixteen generations of the Meissonnier family have developed the estate, first focusing on market gardening and arboriculture, then from 1956 on viticulture.
Over the past 65 years, the vineyards have spread over several communes, and the estate has included parcels in the Côtes du Ventoux and Vacqueyras appellations. Domaine St Roch now includes land in multiple appellations: Cru Beaumes de Venise, Muscat Beaumes de Venise, Côtes du Rhône and Vin de Pays. The grape varieties are varied, with plantings of Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, Roussanne, Marselan, Viognier and Merlot.
With a multitude of terroirs, a fine diversity of grape varieties and specific climatic conditions, Domaine Saint Roch is able to create unique blends and produce wines with a broad aromatic palette.
The estate also has 300 olive trees and produces fruit juices. The business has also expanded with the creation of a Domaine Saint Roch winery.
Skills and practices implemented
The Meissonnier family has made the most of both age-old traditional practices and modern innovations and processes. The Saint Roch estate is thus committed to an environmentally-friendly approach and is run using integrated farming methods.
In addition, major investments have been made and the estate boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including automated tanks with digital management.
The wines of Domaine Saint Roch
The cuvée "Sélection des Steph" Vacqueyras is a fruity, complex Rhône red wine. It is produced in small yields, from Grenache and Syrah grapes, over 120 years old.
La cuvée "Les petits grains" vin de pays, is a light gold-colored wine, fresh and delicate. It is made from Muscat petit grain grapes only.
La Cuvée Folie is a wine in the Côtes du Ventoux appellation: with its tangy fruity notes, it's ideal for aperitifs and summer meals.
La Cuvée Mes Sens is a Beaume de Venise cru made from a blend of two-thirds Syrah and the rest Grenache. It's perfect for accompanying spicy meals.
La Cuvée Vacqueyras Nos Générations is a red wine with a complex mouthfeel, typical of the appellation. Its color is intense, with aromas of ripe red fruits. It is produced in small quantities and made from Grenache and Syrah grapes.
