Since 1996, the venerable maison delas frères, whose roots go back to 1835, has regained the soul and sparkle that contributed to its renown. Under the impetus of new management, numerous investments have been made at the production site in saint-jean-de-muzols, near tournon-sur-rhône. a motivated team is proudly participating in the qualitative renewal of this great rhône valley house: a specially designed vat room for red wines, and the complete restructuring of the ageing cellar are among the key elements of the quality approach of maison delas, summed up in one phrase: perpetuate and sublimate the expression of terroir. The "les bessards" cuvée is a plot-by-plot selection. The grapes come exclusively from the oldest plot in the "les bessards" area, in the heart of the Hermitage hillside. This wine is made only in the best years, and production is deliberately limited to 6,000 bottles a year. The grapes for this cuvée are harvested by hand at optimum maturity. Vinification is carried out in the traditional way, in open concrete vats after two days of maceration.

The appellation Hermitage ou Ermitage is part of the region of Vallée du Rhône from France which include Maison Delas and its 26 cuvées. Spread over The Rhone Valley and its rich, complex terroirs. The region is divided into two distinct subregions: Northern Rhone (known as Rhône Septentrional) and Southern Rhone (Rhône Méridional). In the former we find strong wines in beautiful colours with warm, spicy notes, produced by vineyards that stretch 4,700 ha along the Rhone. The latter, with an area of 71,000 ha, is much more important, and this is evident of course in its annual production of red, rosé and white wines quite unlike those of the Northern Rhone., this region is 3 million hectolitres per year of red wines, rosés, dry and sparkling white wines, and natural sweet wine..
