The "les granits" cuvée owes its name to the granite dominance of its terroir. The slope and orientation facilitate both soil drainage and sunshine, and the grapes show remarkable ripeness year after year. This is a rich wine with superb ageing potential in its best years. This 2011 has an exceptional dark garnet color. The nose is mineral, with smoky, jammy notes of ripe black fruit. The palate is dominated by peppery notes and magnificently sustained by very tight tannins and exceptional persistence. 100% Syrah. Selection of the oldest Syrah strains from the cradle of Saint Joseph. Very poor, steep granite slopes, south of the commune of Tournon. Aged 16-18 months in oak barrels, some new, some one or two wines. Aged for 25 years.
