The 2018 saint joseph from maison les alexandrins has a seductive deep black color with ruby-red highlights. The beautifully complex nose offers a sublime bouquet of almost stewed candied fruit, spices, almonds, red fruits such as cherries and a delicate hint of vanilla. The palate is powerful, with melted tannins, before evolving into a delicate freshness, with notes of vanilla and toast, candied fruit, spices and pepper, typical of Syrah. The finish is very straightforward, ending with a beautiful bitterness and great length. A very elegant wine, full of promise.

The appellation Saint-Joseph is part of the region of Vallée du Rhône from France which include Famille Perrin - Château de Beaucastel and its 52 cuvées. Spread over The Rhone Valley and its rich, complex terroirs. The region is divided into two distinct subregions: Northern Rhone (known as Rhône Septentrional) and Southern Rhone (Rhône Méridional). In the former we find strong wines in beautiful colours with warm, spicy notes, produced by vineyards that stretch 4,700 ha along the Rhone. The latter, with an area of 71,000 ha, is much more important, and this is evident of course in its annual production of red, rosé and white wines quite unlike those of the Northern Rhone., this region is 3 million hectolitres per year of red wines, rosés, dry and sparkling white wines, and natural sweet wine..
