The winemaker

Chautagne is an extension of Lake Bourget (the largest natural lake in France), 15 km from Aix les Bains. Its alluvial plain consists of a marsh and a large poplar, nature haven, faces the west-facing hillside and stretches for fifteen kilometers. From a geological perspective, the Chautagne is the result of the confrontation of two large glaciers: the Rhone Glacier and the Isère who dug the depression of the Val du Bourget, a length of 50 kilometers. A melting glaciers Lake Bourget took place in this depression. Lake Bourget has a major influence on the Chautagne but also on the activity of the Cave de Chautagne. Indeed, the lake plays an important ecological role as an important natural heritage we have at heart meet. It is home to many species of fish and birds, and for some, it is a vital haven of rest in their migration corridor. This privileged environment that can only invite you to spend beautiful moments along its banks.
