The winemaker

An establishment that is the result of the work of two winemakers in the heart of a little known vineyard

As surprising as it may seem, Terroir de Lagrave was born after the creation of the A68 freeway. What does this have to do with anything? you may ask. It's very simple: two local winemakers decided to use this new highway to their advantage in order to promote their wines. By opening their own establishment on the edge of the highway, they benefited from a high visibility which contributed to the immediate success of the property. Built with their own hands, this establishment in which they conduct all their production operations produces vintages marketed under the name of Terroir de Lagrave. The range offered by the winery reflects the variety of terroirs in the region. Indeed, the territory of the Gaillac appellation enjoys three different terroirs due to the geology of the region. Located halfway between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, from the terraces of the left bank of the Tarn to the hillsides of the right bank, passing through the Cordes plateau, these varied terroirs benefit from the mild oceanic climate which limits the risk of frosts, and from the Mediterranean heat which lengthens the cycle of the vine and allows the fruit to reach optimal ripeness.

Two areas

Chateau Garenne and Domaine des Guiraudets are the two properties behind Terroir de Lagrave wines.

Chateau Garenne
Château Garenne is a historic estate whose archives trace its existence back to 1365. A family property that has been passed down from generation to generation, it is now run by Benoît Arnaud who manages 45 hectares of vines planted with red grape varieties for two-thirds. In addition to the traditional grape varieties, there are also varieties unknown to the general public such as Duras, Fer-Servadou or Loin de L'œil, which contribute to the reputation of the brand's wines.

Domaine des Guiraudets
As for the Domaine des Guiraudets, also very old, it extends over 26 hectares where the same forgotten grape varieties and more like Braucol or Mauzac are developed. The Bounes family makes generous and deep red wines and subtle and fine white wines.

Various wines

Terroir de Lagrave offers a wide range of wines in the AOC Gaillac and Vin de France Côtes du Tarn appellations. From reds to dry or sweet whites, the variety of the house's vintages amazes and attracts. The reds are marked by depth and their elegance charms the amateurs, while the whites please by the subtlety of their varied aromas according to the vintages. The blends are therefore essential in the creation of these unique wines, reflections of a multitude of terroirs.
