The winemaker

Jochen Dreissigacker is one of the leaders of the rising generation in the Rheinhessen region, which is currently undergoing a renaissance. Returning to the family estate a few years ago, he has undertaken a small revolution in this 21-hectare vineyard located around the village of Bechtheim (north of Worms in the Wonnegau sub-region). In the cellar, Jochen Dreissigacker strives for the most natural expression of the grapes: manual harvesting, no chaptalization or sweetening, use of indigenous yeasts exclusively, temperature control (16° to 18°) and long fermentations for the purest possible expression of aromas. In addition to rieslings, which account for half of production, the estate produces a wide range of white and red wines from rieslaner (silvaner X riesling), pinot blanc, pinot gris, chardonnay , pinot noir or St. Laurent. Most of the wines are trocken-style, but the frequency of botrytis allows the production of sweet wines, including great trockenbeerenauslese in riesling and rieslaner.
