The winemaker

This estate, located in the heart of Tokaj in Mád, was founded in 1998. At that time, Pascal Demko, a young lawyer, came to the region at his mother's request with the mission of unearthing a few vines in Dorgó-tető, where he had worked in his youth, for his father's birthday. Pascal fell in love with the region and never left. After carefully selecting the plots, in 2004 he founded Holdvölgy with the ambition of producing the very best Tokaj. The first wines will not be released until 2011. The estate covers twenty-six hectares of vines, divided into twenty-two parcels located in seven different crus on the slopes of Mád, one of the most famous villages in the Tokaj appellation. The complexity of the soils and exposures is reflected in the wines. Its ageing cellar, with its 1.8 km of galleries, is one of the oldest and longest in the region, with parts dating back to the 14th century. The estate's ambition is to produce a top-quality range that illustrates all the facets of Tokaj, from dry wines vinified from single grape varieties to great sweet wines and Szamorodni.
