"although there is evidence of viticulture dating back to the 15th century, aoc pessac-léognan is a relatively recent appellation, having been founded in 1987, but its ancient terroir dates back to the Middle Ages. Located to the southwest of Bordeaux, the appellation includes all the Graves Grand Cru Classés and produces mainly red wine. While 2016 is expected to be an exceptional year for Bordeaux red wines, it is also considered a good vintage for the region's whites."
