The winemaker

Located on the northern tip of New Zealand's South Island, The Ned is situated in one of the country's most interesting wine-growing regions, Marlborough. The vineyard takes its name from one of the island's highest peaks, and is a very personal project for owner Brent Marris, a native of the region. Situated on the southern slopes of the Waihopai Valley, the vineyard's 268ha are traversed by the Waihopai River, which not only provides a boundary, but is also the source of the pebbles that make up the vineyard's entire terroir. The harvest is cold-pressed and settled, then yeasts selected for their ability to reveal the very essence of Sauvignon Blanc are added. The juice undergoes alcoholic fermentation in stainless-steel vats, so as not to alter the delicate aromas specific to the grape variety.
