The winemaker

Casa Gran is a three-hundred-year-old farmhouse on the outskirts of Bellmunt del Priorat, on the banks of the Siurana river. At one time, the house was inhabited by Carthusian monks from the nearby Scala Dei monastery, and in the 12th century, this monastic order introduced viticulture to the area. The landscape is characterized by spectacular terraces cut into steep hillsides, heavily planted with Cariñena and Garnacha. The wines are ripe, full-bodied and powerful, with a marked minerality.
