The winemaker

One of the region's most influential new wineries, Marques de Cáceres is unanimously recognized as the leading producer of modern Rioja, and considered largely responsible for Rioja's renaissance in recent decades. The company is owned and operated by the Forner family, long established in the wine trade but forced to flee to France during the Spanish Civil War. When Enrique Forner returned to establish a producer in his native country, he chose what he considered the most beautiful wine-growing region in Spain, Cenicero in the Rioja Alta, building the first new winery to appear in the Rioja in fifty years. Today, Marques de Cáceres continues to produce wines of the highest quality that pay tribute to both Rioja terroir and its indigenous varieties.
