The winemaker

Proud of its winegrowing tradition, the town of Elciego is one of the best-known and most appreciated nuclei of the Rioja Alavesa. After the solid walls of its houses, centuries of wisdom have marked its vocation as a treatment center. Situated near the River Ebro, Elciego has a unique profile, with its old town extending into the shadow of the great church of San Andrés. It was here, in the second half of the 19th century, that wine-making began as it is practiced today throughout the region.
