The winemaker

Chamisal, a pioneering Edna Valley estate, is for us the best ambassador for Central Coast Pinots and Chardonnays. It's located 10 km from San Luis Obispo and just 8 km from the Pacific, in the cool AVA Edna Valley that didn't yet exist when Chamisal planted its first vines in 1973. Today, the vineyard covers 33 hectares. Fifty years of experience have enabled the team to accumulate a fine expertise of the local terroirs, its soils (Chamise Shaly Loam, Tierra Sandy Loam and Salinas Clay Loam) and its climate, among the coolest in California. More lively, more fragrant, deeper, the Pinots and Chardonnays exemplify this new-wave California that makes freshness a cardinal virtue.
