Close to Pommard, Fremiet is very Volnaysian. Domaine Marquis d'Angerville owns a large 1.57-hectare parcel on this terroir, which has always been recognized as one of Volnay's Têtes de Cuvée. Situated beneath Clos des Ducs and Les Pitures, the soil on this climat is very shallow at the top (barely 30 cm of soil), made up of decomposing marly rock. This mixture of clay and limestone gives finesse and body to the wine.
