In a few words ...

Situated between Uzès and Sommières in the Languedoc region, the estate is nestled in the lens massif in the middle of the garrigue. Following in the footsteps of generations of winegrowers, winemakers and distillers, denys armand moved to mas d'espanet in 1980. Everything had to be done on the estate, which had fallen into disrepair: save the old vines of Languedoc red grape varieties (grenache, carignan, cinsault), plant white grape varieties (grenache blanc and gris, sauvignon, viogner, clairette, picpoul, chenin) then non-existent, chosen according to terroir and personal preference. In 1999, the winery was restored, the former sheepfolds were transformed into a barrel cellar and 20 ha were vinified. Under two climatic influences on the north-eastern border of Languedoc, the vineyards offer a wide variety of soils, exposures and grape varieties (old vines over 50 years old). the mistral wind, cold nights, a natural approach to vine-growing (tillage), yields controlled according to grape variety (short pruning, disbudding) give mas d'espanet wines freshness, concentrated aromas and, above all, the winemaker's primary aim: "to let the terroir do the work".
