domaine jean foillard is located in villié-morgon, in the heart of the morgon appellation. Jean foillard works the two most famous terroirs in morgon, the mythical côte du py and the renowned corcelette. He also farms some fine plots in the neighboring Fleurie appellation. He took over the 8-hectare family estate in 1981. Jean foillard, son and grandson of a winegrower, was inspired by his friend marcel lapierre to cultivate his vines in a way that is as close as possible to organic and natural methods. They have been applying the same principles for 25 years, harvesting by hand and vatting for 2 to 3 weeks at low temperature without yeast, using whole grapes. Today, Jean Foillard ranks among the elite of the Beaujolais region, delivering wines of exemplary precision. The domaine jean foillard now covers some twenty hectares. Domaine jean foillard's morgon côte du py is made from gamay vines planted south of villié-morgon on a hillside at an altitude of 260 meters on schistose soils. The nose of this wine reveals incredible notes of wild strawberries, undergrowth, morello cherries, violets, roses, Petit Verdot and other aromas.
